A future Hall-of-Fame Dodger passes another great one. Clayton Kershaw took over third place on the all-time Dodger strikeout distributors, passing the legendary Sandy Koufax in the process.

Clayton Kershaw tied Koufax with the 12-to-6 curve
With a count of a ball and 2 strikes in his favor, number 22 tied Koufax while emulating Sandy’s signature 12 to 6 curveball.
The offering barely passed through the inside corner with the count , freezing Padres slugger Hunter Renfroe.
This piece of history happened to strand runners on first and second base to end San Diego’s threat in the fifth inning.

Passes legendary Dodger with 2397 strikeouts
With one outs in the 6th, once again the Padres started threatening to score, getting runners on second and first.
The 8-time All-Star went to his own trademark pitch, a hard slider that bounced in front of Dodgers catcher Will Smith.
But not before Padres catcher Austin Hedges took a swing at it for strike three on the 0-2 pitch, for the second out of the inning, for Kershaw’s 2397 victim in the strike out column.

The Left-Handed King
Kershaw became Los Angeles all-time southpaw strikeout leader, with his fifth punchout of the game vs San Diego.
Don Sutton (2696) and Don Drysdale (2486), are atop of the Dodgers strikeout leaders
If healthy, both will be on Clayton’s reach within the next two years, in order to become the new king in Hollywood.
