As Listin Diario reports, the First Court of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeals of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, confirmed that ex-mayor. Raul Mondesi, would serve an 8-year sentence in prison.

In addition, he has to pay a $1 million fine and was barred from running for any public position for the next 10 years.
Mondesi, along with three other ex-public servants, was found guilty for embezzlement of almost $6 million while they were in charge of the mayoral service for San Cristobal.
There were other accusations towards Mondesi along with the other three ex-employees of incurring in corrupt acts by PEPCA.
PEPCA is the Especialized Office for Pursuit of Administrative Corruption in Domincan Republic.
Mondesi was the city of San Cristobal’s mayor from 2010 to 2016.
Raul Mondesi baseball career
Mondesi spent 13 years of his career playing Major League Baseball in United States of America.
He’s better known as the former two-time gold glove winner at right field Los Angeles Dodgers from 1993 to ’99, with a super cannon of an arm.

He also spent time with an additional six big league clubs: the New York Yankees, Toronto, Arizona, Pittsburgh, Anaheim, and Atlanta.
Raul Mondesi’s 23 year old son, Adalberto, is the 2019 All-Star candidate shortstop for the Kansas City Royals.
